I am not lazy. I am not an unhealthy person.
But my recent activity over the past 5-6 years has brought me to a time in my life where I sure feel (look) it. That’s why I am taking up with an upcoming Couch to 5k program meeting at Cooper Creek with the Columbus Roadrunners.
My goal is to run Country’s Midnight Run this August 27th!
I spent a majority of my life as an athlete playing baseball (tee ball through early babe ruth) to find organized basketball in middle school and continuing to play through my early 20’s. I’ve had regular schedules at gyms and I have been through weight loss and gain periods.
It is time to get everything back in control. And with today’s cool apps like RunKeeper and Edmondo, I think it should be fun. So, stay tuned and follow me through 10 weeks of running….and hopefully much more!
Cheers to Big Dog Running Co. and Columbus Roadrunners for inspiring me.
What is C25k?
The Couch to 5K program is for those who have always wanted to run, but never knew where to start. It is an 8 week program in which participants will build up from running/walking intervals to completing a 5K (or 3.1 miles). Columbus Road Runners offers this training program free of charge for everyone. The only cost associated will be the entry into the goal race, which is not mandatory to participate, but is strongly encouraged. Having a goal race encourages that the participant will see it through to the end.
Outstanding, Lucas! I will be there to run a few miles with you at Cooper Creek. See you on the trails.
I’m a big fan of heart monitors. I recommend them to all new runners. They help you stay at a healthy heart rate which allows you to run for longer, run more often, and recover faster.
